Where is the convention being held?
The Roots Auckland Tattoo Convention will be held at The Cloud in Auckland city central.
What are the event dates and hours?
The Roots Auckland Tattoo Convention will take place from 14th to 15th March 2026. The event will be open daily from 10am, closing at 10pm on the 14th and then a little earlier at 7pm on the 15th.
Is there an age limit for the event?
Roots is an all ages event!
Alongside tattooing there will be art stations, food and beverage trucks, tattoo competitions & more. Kids 14 & under get in free when accompanied by a paying adult.
How can I get a tattoo at the convention?
Email the tattoo artists directly to book a tattoo or get a walk up over the weekend. A list of artists attending can be found on the artist page of our website.
Do I have to have a booking to get a tattoo?
No, lots of artists will have space for walk up tattoos over the weekend. If you have someone in mind that you would like to get a tattoo from, making an appointment with them is recommended to avoid disappointment

If I’m booked in for a tattoo do I still need to buy a ticket?
Yes, you need to buy a ticket to get entry into the event.
What happens if my tattoo is booked in at 10am when the festival opens, can I get in early?
No. Due to health and safety, no public will be admitted into the Tattoo Area until the event opens at 10am, we will allow pre-purchased ticket holders into the outdoor area at 9.30am.
Are there cash out facilities available?
No. There are no cash facilities at The Cloud. We recommend bringing cash with you to the event, as some tattoo artists may be only taking cash payments.
How old do I have to be to get tattooed?
In order to get tattooed at the Roots Auckland Tattoo Convention, you must be 18 years or over.
Can I take photos during the event?
Absolutely! If any photos or videos are posted online, please remember to tag Roots and the featuring artists!
Are there any retail stalls?
Yes, we will have retail stalls and artists may also have merchandise for sale and don’t forget our Roots Tattoo merchandise.
Are animals allowed?
No. The Cloud does not permit any animals except for working dogs.
